Step 1 - Die cut hearts or other desired shapes. Cut LOTS of them...depending on how many strands you choose to use and the length of each strand the number will vary.

Step 2 - Cut out your mobile base and determine how many strands you need and the length of each strand. The example I made had (1) 48" center strand, (6) 36" strands and (12) 28" strands around the outside.

Step 3 - Set up your workspace so you can keep the shapes separated and easy to rotate. You will also need a clear fishing line or monofilament thread as well as an ample supply of sticky dots.

Step 4 - Cut the fishing line to the desired size; 4" from the end of the line add the first heart. Apply a sticky dot to a heart, lay the fishing line over the sticky dot and add a second heart on top to make a heart sandwich.  Add the next heart approximately 1 1/2" below the first.  Continue adding hearts on the fishing line until you reach the bottom 3-4", add bead, charm or another type of weight to help steady the strands once they are added to the mobile.

Step 5 - Rotate the hearts for each new strand so they aren't all the same. Continue building strands until you have completed all that is needed for your mobile.

Step 6 - Cover the bottom of the mobile base - this is what you will see when the mobile is hanging.

Step 7 - Pre-poke all of the holes to make threading the strands easier.

Step 8 - Use an upholstery or doll needle to thread a hanger loop through the center of the mobile base. Thread each of the strands through the mobile base and secure the strands to the base with hot glue, tape, etc.

Step 9 - Once you have all of the strands secured to your mobile base, use washers to balance out the mobile so it hangs evenly.

Step 10 - (Optional) I wanted to make the top pretty as well so I added a piece of foiled paper to cover the inner workings of the mobile as well as a length of garland to add an extra bit of sparkle.
