Steampunk New Year with Roni

Welcome to 2020!! I wanted to help ring in the new year with my steampunk inspired see through tri-fold card....

I wanted to create something special for you all to celebrate the beginning of 2020. I knew I wanted it to have a steampunk theme and of course I wanted to include lots and lots of gears but I also wanted it to be out of the ordinary.  I decided to make two see through panels but it's extra special because the front panel has a see through shaker!

Step 1 - Die cut loads of gears in whatever shapes and sizes you have. I have cut gears from Silver/Glossy Gold, Gold/Glossy Gold, Marigold/Glossy Gold, Copper/Glossy Gold, Mocha/Glossy Gold (which looks like bronze when you cut the gears), Silver Starstruck, Copper Starstruck, and Gold Starstruck.

Step 2 - Cut 2 pieces of grey cardstock 9.5" x 5 1/2", score the cardstock at 4 1/4" and 8 1/2". Create a fold at the 4 1/4" mark, fold and crease the extra 1/2" flap, this will be the hinge to attache it to the card.

 Step 3 - Die cut a frame from the folded card, by doing so you will create the frame which will hold the see through portions of the card.

Step 4 - Cut (3) transparency panels 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Step 5 - Glue as many or as few gears to each panel as desired.

Step 6 - Glue one panel into each cardstock frame; trim off any excess transparency that may stick out along the flap edge so the flap folds easily back and forth. This will help the card open and close easily without restrictions.

Step 7 - Create the shaker portion of the card. I used one of the frames cut from the see through portion of the card to make the shaker cover. Glue the third transparency to this frame and attach foam tape to the back of the frame.

Step 8 - Make a small pile of shaker bits on the center of the card front, remove the backing paper from the foam tape and adhere this frame over the shaker bits. You have now created a see-through shaker as shown below.

Step 9 - Cut a piece of cardstock 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"; cover this cardstock panel with Turquoise Starstruck foiled paper. This will be the center of your tri-panel card. Decorate this panel as desired.

Step 10 - Ink the edges of the three panels with StazOn Jet Black ink.

Step 11 - Affix the see through flaps to the center card panel.

Step 11 - Use a second piece of the Turquoise Starstruck foiled paper to cover the flaps on the back of the card for a finished look.
