Mr. Steampunk Octopus Inspirational Magnet by Roni Johnson
Roni here today with a fun and inspiring magnet idea incorporating a bit of foil, chipboard, vellum and a few other goodies...check it out.
I love Steampunk everything so when we were told that we were going to collaborate with Creative Embellishments during the month of March I knew I wanted to use at least one of their amazing Steampunk designs. I finally settled upon their Steampunk Octopus Frame.
Step 1 - Trace out a basic background of the frame on the chipboard. I wanted to keep some of the tentacles off the background so they look like they are floating which is why the chipboard looks a bit crazy.
Step 2 - Cover the chipboard background with Turquoise/Gold Glossy foiled paper.
Step 3 - Cut away the excess foiled paper and smooth out the edges with a bone folder.
Step 4 - Color the Steampunk Octopus Frame as desired. I used a combination of Kuretake Zig Clean Color Markers, Glitter Markers and Uni-Ball Signo White Gel Pen for this example.
Step 5 - Glue the colored frame to the foiled background.
Step 6 - Stamp the sentiment onto a piece of vellum.
Step 7 - Trim the sentiment to fit in between the octopus arms.
Step 8 - Glue Sequins around the frame to cover up the glue holding the vellum in place.
Step 9 - Add a bit more glue here and there to affix microbeads just for fun.
Step 10 - Glue on one or two magnets to the back of the frame.
