Making Jumbo Foil Spring Flowers with Roni Johnson
Spring has arrived and it's time to shake off the cabin fever of recent weeks and brighten up our lives a bit. These jumbo spring flowers are just the ticket to do so. These flowers are quick and easy to make and are a real pick-me-up.
Let's begin...
I will give you the measurements to make a small, medium and large bloom.
I used Blush/Blush Starstruck and Lavender/Lavender Starstruck for the petals and Arctic/Arctic Starstruck for the centers.
Step 1 - Cut the following for each flower:
Small - 8 (eight) - 6" x 8" pieces of Blush/Blush Starstruck
Medium - 8 (eight) - 6"x 10" pieces of Lavender/Lavender Starstruck
Large - 10 (ten) - 6" x 12" pieces of Blush/Blush Starstruck
Step 2 - Fold each sheet in half length wise so you have a 3" wide piece of foiled paper.
Step 3 - Use a scrap piece of paper and cut a curved design for the petal tip cutting guide.
Step 4 - Place the guide over each folded piece of foiled paper and cut away the excess.
Step 5 - Gently open up the flat ends of the petal so they meet near the corner fold and pinch together.
Step 6 - Staple the folded edges together to help hold the petal shape.
Step 7 - Repeat steps 5 & 6 until all of the petals have been created.
Step 8 - Staple two petals together.
Note - to help hold the petals together I placed a glue dot where the curve of the petals touched in the center.
Step 9 - Now staple two of the double petals together for a grouping of 4 petals. You will have two sets of these 4 petal groupings per bloom.
Note - If you are making the Large flowers you will have 2 sets of 5 petals.
Step 10 - Staple the two sets of petals together to create the flower.
This is what your flower will look like at this point.
Step 11 - Hand or die cut centers for each flower. For this example I used Arctic/Arctic Starstruck foiled paper. You may choose to leave the center as is or embellish it in some way.
