How To Create A Vintage Tag With A Hint Of Steampunk
by Jenn DuBell
Hello! Jenn here today sharing my very first project as part of the Rinea Design Team! Today I am showing you how to create a vintage tag with a bit of steampunk added.
Step 1 - Start with a tag in the size and color of your choice. Apply a layer of clear gesso to the entire surface of the tag.
Step 2 - Use a flower die or hand cut flowers using the foiled papers. For my tag, I used Tim Holtz Sizzix Tattered Florals Die. Once you have all the petals cut, assemble them into your flowers. The foiled paper is very easy to shape for petals. Set them aside when complete.
Step 3 - Add some stenciling with embossing paste to the tag surface and then embossing powders. I used a mixture of gold and wine-colored powders.
Step 4 - Next add some stamping. For my tag, I used brown Archival Ink to coordinate and a combination of stamps. I also added some white ink splatters and water, then allowed it to run a bit down the tag as seen in photos. Once dry I splattered some wine-colored ink spray.
Step 5 - Adhere flowers, photo, chipboard gears, and sentiment. I also added some gold micro beads to my flower centers and ribbon.
